Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could help the team enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Seekers and Planners groups.
Fans can expect finding out which players will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
